The S'Pekin Dragons competed yesterday at the IHSA Sectional Tournament at Morris Community High School. We placed 5th as a team, but more importantly, had FIVE STUDENTS qualify to the IHSA State Tournament!!! The final round results were: Dramatic Interpretation 5th place - Caroline Manning (sen) Extemporaneous Speaking 3rd place - Mark Czesak (jun) STATE QUALIFIER!!! Informative Speaking 3rd place - Norah Springborn (jun) STATE QUALIFIER!!! Oratorical Declamation 3rd place - Anna Soupos (jun) STATE QUALIFIER!!! Original Comedy 3rd place - Norah Springborn (jun) STATE QUALIFIER!!! Poetry Reading 3rd place - Sophia Vansaghi (soph) STATE QUALIFIER!!! Prose Reading 3rd place - Caroline Manning (sen) STATE QUALIFIER!!! This is the most state qualifiers Pekin has had since 2017! These students will compete next weekend at the Peoria Civic Center for a chance at a state title. If you see them, please congratulate them on all their hardwork and success!
