Pekin Community High School is proud to announce Mr. Joel Schmieg was Board approved as Principal for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. Mr. Schmieg has been with District 303 for ten years serving in a variety of administrative roles, with the most recent being Assistant Principal of Curriculum. Of his impending position, Mr. Schmieg states, “I want to provide an education program that promotes growth in all students and established norms rooted in integrity and mutual respect, which results in a school environment where stakeholders are truly proud to be PCHS Dragons.” 

Mr. Schmieg received his Bachelor’s Degree in History Education from Southern Illinois University, his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University. He has also earned his Superintendent Endorsement from Illinois State University. 

“Our interview committee unanimously chose Mr. Schmieg to be recommended as their next Principal. It was clear that Joel has had a positive impact on those who have worked with him over the years, and we believe that he knows our school and is poised to continue its strong tradition of excellence,” stated Dr. Danielle Owens, Superintendent.
