At PCHS students have the opportunity to participate in Co-curricular activities if they are enrolled in a curricular ensemble or complete an audition. Co-curricular activities meet outside the school day and periodically travel off campus for learning opportunities.

Jazz Band -The PCHS jazz band is a group open to all students that wish to learn the musical genres associated with non-classical playing such as swing, funk, & latin. This group requires no auditions and does not adhere to specific instrumentation.

Jazz Ensemble - The PCHS Jazz Ensemble is the top jazz group and is audition based. This ensemble practices outside the school day, two days a week. The ensemble travels to several festivals throughout the state and continually receives outstanding feedback and recognition. Auditions for this group take place in late October.

Jazz Combo - Students that wish to play in a smaller jazz setting, and explore the intricacies of improvisation can be a part of the student led jazz combo at PCHS. This group meets before or after school depending on student availability.

Pep Band - This group known as "The Fire" performs at several home varsity basketball games a year. Participation is open to all instruments and is completely voluntary. Students that participate in pep band can count this as community service hours!

Color guard - The PCHS color guard is an award winning group that provides the visual impact for the marching band. These students perform with the band at all home football games, parades and competitions. This group requires a short audition and NO experience is necessary. Winterguard - The PCHS winterguard is an indoor performing group that showcases their talents at several Varsity home basketball games. This group is audition based but NO experience is necessary. This guard unit performs routines to popular songs similar to the dance team at PCHS. Students that wish to be a part of the color guard should contact erace@pekinhigh.net for more information!

Symphony Orchestra - Students currently enrolled in the bands or orchestra at PCHS are eligible to participate in the symphony orchestra. This group plays full scale orchestral works featuring strings, winds and percussion. Students are chosen from the top performing band at PCHS and the orchestra class.
