Concert Band ~ This ensemble is open to all students that have played in band 9-12. There is no audition to be in this ensemble. In the fall students that are not enrolled in marching band, and play a wind instrument are enrolled in Concert Band. In the spring semester, this ensemble is distributed into two groups based on ability level. Students can be moved into Symphonic band second semester based on their playing assessments.

Percussion - Students that play percussion enroll in this ensemble class. Students will perform with the bands on all concerts, but will also have percussion specific music they will learn. Students that do not play percussion can take this course as a fall elective and will become part of the band program. Students that play an instrument can take percussion if they are currently enrolled in a band class.

Symphonic Band - This ensemble is a second semester (spring) course offering for students 10-12. Students are placed in this ensemble based on past playing assessments and audition. The symphonic band is the top performing wind ensemble at PCHS and often participates in concert festivals and the IHSA Organizational Contest.
