Intro to Culinary Arts taste tested parfaits to prepare for our deliveries. Today we made dirt pudding parfaits. Yum 😋

The Close Up trip to Washington D.C. has been taken by PCHS students since the 1970s. The 12 wonderful individuals who went this week are wonderful ambassadors for everyone at home. Pride for their town and school was exemplified in everything they did and everyone they encountered throughout the week. Be encouraged by their leadership and dedication. #DragonPride

We hope all of our Dragons have a safe and restful Spring Break! Classes resume on April 22nd.

The 36th Legislative Session was a success. The House even overrode a veto by the Chief Executive. The students were active participants in drafting, amending, and passing legislation. Always an amazing day!

Mr. Denham, on the Close Up trip, got to catch up with a former student and 2017 PCHS alum Preston Hanley, who works for a firm that conducts business with the DOD at the Pentagon. Preston showed him around the largest office building in the world. #DragonPride

Close Up students in Washington D.C. are spending the morning on day #4 getting some great views of the White House and surrounding area. #DragonPride

Music Theory students got to see their compositions come to life this morning as they were played live on saxophone! 🎶🎵

Capitol Hill day for the Close Up trip to Washington D.C. was a success. A quick photo with Senator Duckworth and a chance encounter with Senator Cruz. The students had a fantastic time. They asked thoughtful and relevant questions while having great conversations with the staff members of their congressional representatives. Such a wonderful day. #DragonPride

Here it is! The newest, largest club group at Pekin Community High School Welcome the Dungeons and Dragons Club. This club was started this year a short few months ago by Mr. Sims & Ms. Dunn. We all here at PCHS are excited to see how large this club will grow from week to week

We have received information that PCHS Seniors are planning to play a "Senior Assassin" game, a current trend among high school students. The game involves students "stalking" and "shooting" each other with water guns in an attempt to be the last Senior standing. Think of "Hide & Seek" with water guns. Though we don't condone the game, we do strive to keep our school community informed.
For the students, the safest thing is not to play. We know it's a game to you, but you have to consider it may not appear that way to the public.
If you're going to play, here are a couple reminders:
Do not play the game on school property. Look-alike weapons of any kind are not allowed on campus.
Do not trespass onto or into other people's property while playing. If you're asked to leave, do so.
Use brightly colored toy water guns. Hiding in dark places and carrying anything that can be mistaken for a firearm is a recipe for disaster. The same goes for wearing masks, camouflage, etc.
If police approach, don't run or hide. Explain to the officers what you are doing and cooperate if they ask you to stop.
To our community, as always, if you see something or someone suspicious, please don't confront anyone yourself.

A full day of activities starting early and going late into the evening. Day #2 of Close Up in Washington D.C. has been sunny, cool and windy, but the energy of the students keep them warm. #DragonPride
