We are excited to announce this week's winners of the "Flying the P" award. This week we are honoring the accomplishments of a few different groups of PCHS students. We start by honoring the members of the JROTC Honor Guard. On September 18 and 24, the cadets performed the Prisoner of War (POW) and Missing in Action (MIA) table ceremony for the local community in Honor of National POW/MIA Recognition Day and the City of East Peoria's hosting of the Traveling Vietnam War Memorial. The Vietnam Wall Traveling Memorial stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. For those of you who have seen the ceremony, it offers remembrance, hope, healing and comfort for the many families of American’s whose loved one never came home from conflicts in foreign lands. The Pekin Community High School Army JROTC Honor Guard is committed even during this global pandemic, to the continued performance of this solemn ceremony in honor of all those men and women who have served their country. These two young ladies both qualified as individuals for the IHSA sectional that was held at the University of Illinois last week. The two varsity girls golf members are: Sydney Hubner Lauren Minkel We also honor the members of the boys varsity golf team. These young men had an amazing season going undefeated in regular season matches, winning the Mid-Illini Conference championship, the IHSA Regionals, and qualifying for the IHSA Sectionals where they placed 4th. Encaustic is painting/SCUPLTING with hot wax. PCHS Sculpture students are using collage techniques to preserve memories using their encaustic skills and materials. #dragonpride

Bruning’s Foods 1 students learn about cooking equipment and appliances when making ham and cheese frittatas. Intro to Foods students practiced measuring by making chocolate chip cookies!

3D Art students add decorative coils to their ceramic projects. When they are finished, we will add colorful glazes to waterproof the clay.

We are excited to announce this week's winners of the "Flying the P" award are our Health Occupations II students! Knowing the challenges and hardships brought on with Covid-19, these medical professionals in training wanted the opportunity to thank our courageous and committed heroes on the front line for their dedication and support. Each HOII student hand-painted a pumpkin and shared an interesting Fun Fact about Halloween with some of our local medical facilities in the community. The HOII students are hopeful this small donation of kindness will bring the medical professionals smiles during this trying time. Please help us in congratulating each of these students!
