Learning in the sun!

Zoology students celebrated the end of their Arthropod unit with a Arthropod themed potluck. Menu included Manchurian Scorpions, guac with black ants, cricket brownies, Lobster dip, and crawdad queso. Everything was delicious and packed with protein!

What a great week in Bruning’s classes! Each Foods 1 student made their very own apple pie from scratch this week. Survey of FACS went in the lab for the food unit and made wacky cakes! Interior Design 1 students are working on recovering a chair!

Former WLW student, Dr. Aki Watanabe of the New York Institute of Technology, enlightened Mrs. Gilmore's Earth & Environmental students through a video chat on his career and research on BIRD BRAINS 🐓 (and we learned it can actually a compliment to call someone that!), among other AMAZING CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS and EXPERIENCES!
Then, after school, she had the opportunity to share a wonderful outdoor experience with DNR biologists, Thad Cook and Blake Bushman, and a small group of students at Spring Lake where they learned about electro shocking, population studies, fish stocking, and so much more. 🐟🐢 They even got up close and personal with lots of native fish and turtle species (and ALMOST A SNAKE! 😬)
What makes this day SO VERY REMARKABLE is that other people were willing to take time out of THEIR DAY to touch the lives of these fortunate kids!
We are thankful for the people who are out there DOING SCIENCE, making it relevant, and are willing to share it!
🔬🐟🐔
Thank you, Aki, Thad and Blake!!
You make our world a better place!

Today is International Day of the Girl. Members of Girl Up walked 1.5 miles around the school this afternoon to support the 129 million girls out of school around the world. Contact Miss Kahl to see how you can get involved!

Mr. Proehl’s Woodworking II class with their awesome cutting boards! Great work!

There's a chill in the air, and the leaves are starting to drop. Dragon's Closet is in need of cold-weather clothing, including hats, gloves, mittens, coats, pants, sweatshirts, etc. We are in most need of men's sizes above XL. There is a drop-off bin in the Principal's Office.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
