Former WLW student, Dr. Aki Watanabe of the New York Institute of Technology, enlightened Mrs. Gilmore's Earth & Environmental students through a video chat on his career and research on BIRD BRAINS 🐓 (and we learned it can actually a compliment to call someone that!), among other AMAZING CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS and EXPERIENCES! Then, after school, she had the opportunity to share a wonderful outdoor experience with DNR biologists, Thad Cook and Blake Bushman, and a small group of students at Spring Lake where they learned about electro shocking, population studies, fish stocking, and so much more. 🐟🐢 They even got up close and personal with lots of native fish and turtle species (and ALMOST A SNAKE! 😬) What makes this day SO VERY REMARKABLE is that other people were willing to take time out of THEIR DAY to touch the lives of these fortunate kids! We are thankful for the people who are out there DOING SCIENCE, making it relevant, and are willing to share it! 🔬🐟🐔 Thank you, Aki, Thad and Blake!! You make our world a better place!

There's a chill in the air, and the leaves are starting to drop. Dragon's Closet is in need of cold-weather clothing, including hats, gloves, mittens, coats, pants, sweatshirts, etc. We are in most need of men's sizes above XL. There is a drop-off bin in the Principal's Office. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
