Absences can add up quickly which can lead to students:
1. Falling behind in their assignments
2. Lower grades
3. Being referred to truancy
4. Being placed on social probation (new to this school year)
Ways to help students attendance:
1. If your student has a medical provider appointment, make sure that the provider's note is turned in to the nurse's office following the appointment
2. Check Skyward to monitor student attendance
3. Report absences either through the online attendance link on the PCHS website, www.pekinhigh.net, or call the attendance line 24/7 at (309) 477-4232

Bruning's 1st hour Foods 1 class finished up equivalents with the cheese quesadilla lab and started the microwave unit with s'mores. Intro to Foods are measuring correctly when they make chocolate chip cookies.

Our first Future Focus Day of the year allowed our Dragons to take a break from their studies, explore career paths, and learn useful skills. Members of the Illinois Department of Labor even stopped by to see what's happening at PCHS. Congratulations to the girls' cross country team, who placed 4th in the Regional meet and will advance to Sectionals next week! Also congrats to Morgan Coker, who came in 5th overall, earning a medal. Wish them all luck before they run at Granite City next Saturday!
