PCHS is proud to announce that we are working in conjunction with OSF, the Pekin Fire Department, the Pekin Police Department, the Tazewell County Coroner, and other local agencies to facilitate Operation Prom Night as a preventive measure to remind Junior and Senior students not to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Operation Prom Night will be held today, May 1st @ 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. All Junior and Senior students will be escorted to the stadium to observe the event.
PCHS student actors will simulate an accident caused by driving while intoxicated after prom. Local law enforcement officers, EMS crews, and PFD firefighters will respond to the mock scene, just as they would to a real accident. If weather permits, we will even land a Life Flight helicopter as part of the reenactment. The Tazewell County Coroner will also participate and speak to our student body. If you see 1st responders, and even a helicopter land by the stadium, it is a planned event and not an emergency.
We care about our student body and appreciate all of our community patterns to make this happen. Special thanks to Lisa Maynard of OSF Healthcare and Steve Amstutz from the Pekin Fire Department for helping organize all of the details of the event.
