Bradley volleyball player

PEORIA — Bradley volleyball player Hannah Thompson was named the winner of the Charles Orsborn Award, the highest honor the school gives to a graduating senior athlete.

The Pekin native is the 69th recipient of the award, which capped the 2022 Kaboom! Awards held Monday at Renaissance Coliseum. Seven additional awards also were also announced in the event.

Thompson, a 5-foot-8 outside hitter, is one of the most accomplished athletes in Bradley volleyball history. She was selected by the school's Intercollegiate Athletics Committee from three finalists: Thompson, cross country and track runner McKenzie Altmayer of Geneva and baseball player Connor O'Brien of San Diego.

Thompson, a three-time all-Missouri Valley Conference first-team selection, ended her career as one of just three MVC volleyball players with 1,300 career kills (1,377) and 1,900 career digs (1,902).

The health science major also had a 4.0 GPA and was named 2021 MVC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She also is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American.
