2019-2020 School Year for Army JROTC.
Welcome back Pekin Community High School JROTC Cadets to School Year 2019-2020. We are excited to have each Cadet in the JROTC Program. JROTC is a nation wide program program comprising over 350,000 Cadets at 1700 High Schools. It is a program that mission is to motivate young people to become better citizens in whatever they desire to do after high school.
We have many different activities and events within JROTC. As a review, there are three mandatory events for each Cadet within the program:
Thursday, May 7th- JROTC End of Year Award Ceremony
- JROTC Program Assesement (JPA) Inspection 2019
Mr. Tyrone Middleton and Ms. Melissa Moore of the 3rd Brigade Cadet Command stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base conducted a thorough inspection of our JROTC program on 3 Dec, 19. The Cadets, Command and Staff earned the "Gold Star" to wear on their uniforms, also called "Honor Unit with Distinction!" They spent the day with the help of several recruiters doing a full dress inspection and reviewed performances from our Drill and Color Guard teams. The next 6 hours of briefings tested cadet knowledge, reviewed the Continuous Improvement Plan, and the Service Learning Project. They also interviewed and examined both instructors and cadets' portfolios. Thoroughly comparing operations to the regulations.
And to top it all off, the Pekin AMVETS stopped by to see the inspection and present the program with a donation for all the volunteer work they do for area veterans.
This puts our Battalion in a very elite class at the top of the 1700+ Army JROTC and 3400+ JROTC programs in the United States and the United States military bases across the world. Congrats to all of our Cadets
