A native of Taylor, Michigan, SFC Blackburn enlisted in the United States Army on 20 September 1989. He attended Basic Training at and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), at Fort McClellan, Alabama, and was awarded the MOS 54B (now 74D), Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Specialist. His previous assignments include Bravo Company 82nd Chemical Battalion, Fort McClellan Alabama, 95th Chemical Company, Giessen Germany 3rd COSCOM Special Troops Battalion, 314th Military Intelligence Battalion Detroit, MI (Army Reserve), 323 Combat Support Hospital, Southfield, MI (Army Reserve), 59th MP Company, 759th MP BN, Fort Carson Colorado, 59th Chemical Company, 548th Combat Support Battalion, Fort Drum, New York, Echo Company 82nd Chemical Battalion 3rd Chemical Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, HHC 1stBCT 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum New York, A Company 84th Chemical Battalion, 3rd Chemical Brigade Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, HHC, Support Operations Directorate, US Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. He earned an Associate in Applied Sciences Degree from Jefferson Community College and is currently working for his Bachelor Degree in Business Management and Administration with emphasis on Leadership from American Military University. His military schooling includes Basic Training, Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Advanced Individual Training; Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC); The Chemical Biological Nuclear Radiological Basic Advanced Noncommissioned Officer (BNCOC), and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer (ANCOC) course; The United States Army Drill Sergeant School; Level 1 Combative Course; HAZMAT level 1 Technician Course; Field Management of Chemical and Biological Casualties Course; Small Group Instructor Couse; Basic Instructor Course; Air Assault Course and Combat Lifesaver Course. Arp, and they have been married for 2 years.
