PEKIN COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL & THE MARCHING DRAGONS HOST A YEARLY MARCHING BAND CONTEST:

THE PEKIN DRAGON CLASSIC.

The Pekin Community High School Marching Band Competition - the 22nd Annual Pekin Dragon Classic - draws marching bands of all sizes from all over the state of Illinois. Held annually at the high school stadium, the sights and sounds of this contest provide the ultimate atmosphere of marching band excellence. Judges are selected from all over the midwest, in & out of state, representing a vast scale of superior judging and feedback for the participants.

New in 2005, the addition of a fourth classes will provide a bigger opportunity for all bands to come out of this contest with the rewards that truly represent their hard work and efforts throughout. Bands will compete in classes ranked by band size, not school size, and be judged on an independent system. Directors receive score sheets, audio commentary tapes and a high quality video recording of their performance.

Competition begins at noon. The stadium and concessions opens at 11:00 to provide lunch for bands and fans.
