PEKIN COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION
SPECIAL MEETING
MONDAY, 30 MARCH 2009
5:30 P.M.

The Pekin Community High School Board of Education met on Monday, 30 March 2009, in the Superintendent’s Office located in The Holman Career and Technical Education Building of Pekin Community High School, City of Pekin, County of Tazewell.

Call to Order

President Larry Howard called the Special Meeting of the Board of Education to order at 5:33 p.m.

Roll Call

Present were members Joe Alesandrini, Ed Harr, Karen Hohimer, Larry Howard, George Kampas, Paul O’Neal, and Betty Scott. Also present were Superintendent Paula Davis, Assistant Superintendent Tim Ruwe, Business Manager Carla Schaefer, and Recording Secretary Rick White.

Communications and Public Comments

None.

Closed Session

President Howard made the request for closed session regarding the setting of a price for sale or lease of property owned by the public body and the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees or the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity.

Motion by Alesandrini, Second by Hohimer to Adjourn to Closed Session.

Motion passed by roll call vote: Ayes – Alesandrini, Hohimer, Harr, Scott, Kampas, O’Neal, and Howard. Nays – None.

The Board adjourned to closed session at 5:34 p.m.

The minutes of the closed session are recorded and filed separately.

The Board reconvened in open session at 6:08 p.m.

Open Session

Sale of District Property

Superintendent Paula Davis distributed and read the Resolution of the Board of Education of Pekin Community High School District No. 303 concerning the sale of property described as Lot 66 in Hickory Hills Estates Section Four, commonly known as 225 Ironwood Drive, Pekin, Illinois 61554, at a minimum price of $243,900.

Motion by Alesandrini, second by Hohimer to Adopt the Resolution for the Sale of Lot 66 in Hickory Hills Estates Section Four, Pekin, Illinois

Motion passed by roll call vote: Ayes – Alesandrini, Hohimer, Harr, Scott, Kampas, O’Neal, and Howard. Nays – None.

Recommendation for Employment of the Head Football Coach

Motion by Kampas, second by Scott to Employ Mr. Doug Nutter as Head Football Coach at a Salary of 25 Percent Differential as Per Contract for the 2009-2010 School Year as Presented

Motion passed by roll call vote: Ayes – Kampas, Scott, Harr, O’Neal, Hohimer, Alesandrini, and Howard. Nays – None.

Recommendation for Employment of the Assistant Principal for Operations

Motion by Scott, second by Kampas to Employ Mrs. Melissa Bloom the Assistant Principal of Operations for the 2009-2010 School Year at a Salary of $76,000 Plus TRS as Presented

Motion passed by roll call vote: Ayes – Scott, Kampas, Harr, O’Neal, Hohimer, Alesandrini, and Howard. Nays – None.

Adjournment

President Howard declared the Special Meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
