The Pekin Community High School Board of Education met on Tuesday, 08 September 2009, in the Superintendent’s Office located in The Holman Career and Technical Education Building of Pekin Community High School, City of Pekin, County of Tazewell.

Call to Order and Roll Call

President Howard called the special meeting of the Board of Education to order at 5:00 p.m. Present were members Joe Alesandrini, Eric Hill, Karen Hohimer, Larry Howard, Carl Johnson, and Paul O’Neal. Also present were Superintendent Paula Davis, Assistant Superintendent Tim Ruwe, Business Manager Carla Schaefer, Principal Mike Davis, Dean of Students Amy Hubner, and Recording Secretary Rick White. Absent was member Ed Harr.

None.

New Business

Motion by Alesandrini, second by Hohimer to adjourn to closed session.

Motion passed by roll call vote: Ayes: Alesandrini, Hohimer, Hill, Johnson, O’Neal, and Howard. Nays: None. Absent: Harr.

The Board adjourned to closed session at 5:02 P.M. and returned to open session at 5:07 P.M.

Student Discipline

Motion by Alesandrini, second by O’Neal to expel student number 09-01-10 for the remainder of the 2009-2010 school year and the entire 2010-2011 school year, eligible to return in the fall, or first semester, of the 2011-2012 school year for reasons of gross misconduct.

Motion passed by roll call vote: Ayes: Alesandrini, O’Neal, Hill, Hohimer, Johnson, and Howard. Nays: None. Absent: Harr.
