MINUTES The Pekin Community High School Board of Education met on Monday, 05 December 2011, in the Superintendent’s Office located in The Holman Career and Technical Education Building of Pekin Community High School, City of Pekin, County of Tazewell. Call to Order President Joe Alesandrini called the special meeting of the Board of Education to order at 5:28 p.m. Present were Members Joe Alesandrini, Eric Hill, Larry Howard, Carl Johnson, Paul O’Neal, and Ryan Wrigley. Also present were Superintendent Paula Davis, Assistant Superintendent Tim Ruwe, Director of Business Operations Carla Schaefer, Administrative Assistant Danielle Owens, Principal Melissa Bloom, District Attorney Jay Greening, CTE Department Teacher Mike Damron, IEA UniServ Director Kim McCormick, Alliance President Pete Miller, Alliance Welfare Committee Chairperson Sherry Spurlock, and Recording Secretary Rick White. Absent was Member Karen Hohimer. New Business President Alesandrini made the request for closed session regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. Motion by Howard, Second by Wrigley to Adjourn to Closed Session. Motion passed by roll call vote: Ayes –Howard, Wrigley, Hill, Johnson, O’Neal, and Alesandrini. Nays – None. Absent – Hohimer. The Board adjourned to closed session at 5:29 p.m. and returned to open session at 6:35 p.m. Suspension of Certificated Staff Member Motion by Howard, Second by O’Neal to Impose a One-Day Unpaid Suspension on Teacher Mike Damron, the Date of the Suspension to Be Determined by the Administration. Motion passed by roll call vote: Ayes –Howard, O’Neal, Hill, Johnson, Wrigley, and Alesandrini. Nays – None. Absent – Hohimer. Adjournment The special meeting was adjourned by President Alesandrini at 6:36 P.M.
