The Pekin Community High School Board of Education met on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in the Superintendent’s Office located in The Holman Career and Technical Education Building of Pekin Community High School, City of Pekin, County of Tazewell.

Call to Order

President Howard called the special meeting of the Board of Education to order at 5:00 p.m. Present are Ed Harr, George Kampas, Paul O’Neal, Karen Hohimer, Joe Alesandrini, and Larry Howard. Absent: Betty Scott. In addition to the Board members, Superintendent Paula Davis, Assistant Superintendent Tim Ruwe, Business Manager Carla Schaefer, Principal Mike Davis, Dean Herb Knoblauch and Recording Secretary Dawn Roach.

Closed Session

Motion by Alesandrini, second by Hohimer to adjourne to closed session.

Motion passed by roll call vote: Ayes: Alesandrini, Hohimer, Harr, Kampas, O’Neal and Howard. Nays: None. Absent: Scott.

New Business

Student Discipline

Motion by Alesandrini, second by Hohimer to expel student number 08-02-09 and student number 08-03-09 for the remainder of this school year and thru summer school and be allowed to return in August of 2009.

Motion passes by roll call vote: Ayes: Alesandrini, Hohimer, Harr, Kampas, O’Neal and Howard. Nays: None. Absent: Scott.

Consent Agenda

Paula told the Board that the Administration has completed the process to replace Danielle Owens in the Dean’s office. Tonight they would like to recommend Amy Hubner for the Dean’s position. Amy has been employeed since 2002 in the Math Department.

Motion by: O’Neal, second by Kampas to recommend Amy Hubner as Dean effective October 7, 2008 at a salary as per contract plus 27% differential as per contract.
