The Policy Committee met on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Office located in The Holman Career and Technical Education Building of Pekin Community High School, County of Tazewell.

Superintendent Paula Davis called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Committee members Karen Hohimer, Ed Harr and Paul O’Neil were present. Superintendent Paula Davis, Assistant Superintendent Tim Ruwe, Business Manager Carla Schaefer, and recording Secretary Dawn Roach and future recording secretary Rick White were also present.

Paula said she would like to add a discussion of AED’s during tonight’s meeting.

Policy 7.210 – Expulsion Procedures: Paula said this is just a long version of what we already are doing. Paul O’Neal asked if we have had parents express discontent over our expulsion process. Paula said no, not really. We don’t get to the point of expulsion without contact with parents. The committee discussed the expulsion process. The committee agreed to bring this policy to the Board for a first read at their next meeting.

After a review of all the closed minutes listed, the committee agreed to keep all the closed sessions minutes closed.

Paula told the committee that if we rent our facility to any organization, we are to have an AED available and someone there who has been trained to use it. Paula said she will consult the attorney on this issue; she wanted to make the committee aware of the issue.
The committee discussed the law and use of AED’s for rental activities.
