STRUCTURAL PROJECT REVIEW
Mrs. Davis reported that two bids have been received for completing structural improvements. The low bid of $12,495.00 was submitted by Mid-Illinois Companies of Peoria, Illinois. The plan to pull the precast concrete walls back toward the interior of the B/C Buildings has been abandoned due to possible cracking. Also, due to flexing, they are currently very close to where they should be—about ¼ to ½ inch separation from the floor. The office of Dale Patton, Chairperson of the Physical Education/Health Department, was not included in the specs submitted for bid by our architects at Healy, Bender. Approval was granted to get a quote from Mid-Illinois to add necessary work in Mr. Patton’s office to the contract. The nature of the work to be completed there is the same as for other areas included in bid specifications. Several Board members discussed the performance of Healy, Bender & Associates.
OTHER
LIGHTING.
Chairperson Alesandrini noted that the left light on the arch on the west wide of the campus is out. Lighting recently added to the exterior of the building was well done. Football field lighting at the Stadium has been improved with cleaning and replacement of all bulbs. To upgrade lights to meet the percentage recommended would cost about $120,000, Mr. Lewis reported.
Improvements completed to the lighting systems of both gyms and G Building over the summer have received positive reviews.
PAINTING.
Plans for painting parts of the exterior of the new addition are being developed, reported Mr. Lewis.

LEAKS.
A few areas of the building are still experiencing leaking problems, Mr. Lewis observed, but only during heavy downpours. To tackle the persistent leak along the east B/C Building wall abutted by the parking lot, he recommended using Drylock both inside and out. This work can be done by PCHS staff in the spring of 2010.
INSPECTION OF NEW BOILERS.
The committee inspected new boilers installed in A Building at 5:21 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 5:35 p.m. by Chairperson Alesandrini.
Respectfully Submitted,
Rick White, Recording Secretary |
