HIGH SCHOOL WEIGHT LIFTING
As a part of Athletic Improvement of
Pekin High School Athletics, students are highly encouraged to
participate in off-season
weight training and speed improvement.
OFF SEASON PROGRAM & DAILY
SCHEDULE
The
goal of the off season weight training schedule is to increase the number of
students to participate in extra-curricular activities. The training will promote multi-sport
athletes and collaborate with other coaches to develop a working relationship. Coaches can develop a relationship with other
student athletes who are in different sports.
The ultimate objective of the off-season workouts is to create a
positive athletic culture at PCHS. The
student athletic body will be more supportive as a collective group if they
workout and devote time and effort into developing a stronger school-wide
athletic program.
The
athletic department of Pekin Community High School and Athletic Improvement
Committee has developed an Improvement plan to increase participation and
success. The Committee has implemented a
year-round, school-wide weight-lifting program.
The Committee consists of coaches and administration who will meet once
a month to discuss and share ideas, address concerns, successes, failures, and
scheduling issues. The committee has
also created short-term goals, long-term goals, along with expectations of
students and program. The goal of the
plan is to create a stronger more athletic student.
Offseason Program and Daily
Schedule
· Three upper body and lower body core lifts that all
athletes will complete daily in the off-season.
· Each head coach will create a list of upper and lower
body lifts that are sport specific. The
athlete will choose four of them to complete each day.
· Supervising coaches will instruct, promote, and teach
safety. They will also examine booklets
for accuracy and take attendance.

· Respect the coaches, lifters, and
others in the weight room at all times.
· No inappropriate language or
horseplay.
· Put your weights back in the proper
places.
· Always use a “spotter” for safety.
· Encourage each other.
· Use the provided workout by the
school.
