Dragon Roar Dec. 7, 2015

•Congratulations to the speech team on a very successful weekend of competition at two contests.  At

Bradley in which teams from 10 different states competed, PCHS took its top 8 competitors in 16 entries

and placed 1st as a team in the smaller entry division with Peoria Manual second and Madison,

Wisconsin 3rd.  Senior Chandler Songer was the big winner for the team by placing 2nd in the Jay Jansen

Oratorical Contest and winning a $13, 000 dollar scholarship to Bradley in the fall.  Chandler also was the

tournament champion in extemp speaking.  Riley Bloom was 2nd in Original Comedy, Jordan Killion, 3rd in

Poetry, Cullen Baker, 6th in Dec and Leah Martin 6 in Informative.  Pekin also had semi finalists Jenna

Schultz in Poetry, Bloom in HI, and Martin in Prose.

At Bloomington, PCHS placed 2nd to Richwoods.  The S’Pekin dragons the following Varsity Finalists:

Matt Hoyle in Prose, Sarah Wynn in Poetry, Abi Dagit in Poetry, Alexander Redding in HI and Radio,

Jacob DuBois in Radio, Skylar Peters in Dec, Colton Houseworth in Dec, Alyssa Stuart in OC,  Theresa

Kowalski in SOS.  JV champions were Tanner Bland in Oratory, Dakota Richmond in SOS, Coleton

Whitford in OC and Danielle Watson in Info.  Great job and good luck at Normal Community this coming

Saturday, Dec. 12th.



•The JROTC Drill Team and Rifle Teams really dominated the competition Saturday.

Congratulations to our JROTC Drill teams at the Lincoln Quest Competition!

1st for Individual Drill Down – Ian Krueger.

1st in Armed Regulation Drill

2nd in Color Guard – Bravo Team

Our Drill program placed 1st overall.

Congratulations to our Rifle team at the Lincoln Quest Competition!

Kristin Keyes 1st Place Sporter

Emalea Thielbar 1st Place Precision

Keyes beat a school record with 273 targets out of 300 (previously 230)

Great Job to Lieutenant Colonel and his teams, and good luck next weekend at the Waynesville, Indiana
