•Please congratulate Eric Ewan, his speech team assistants, and last year’s speech team on once again earning significant recognition by the National Speech and Debate Association.  Our PCHS chapter is ranked among the top 10% of schools nationwide and has once again been awarded membership in the Association’s prestigious 100 Club.  We are looking forward to another successful PCHS speech team this year!

•Congratulations to the PCHS sophomore volleyball team for their 3rd place finish in the Mid-Illini Soph Tournament this last weekend.  Way to go girls!

•Congratulations to Zach House, this week’s Flag Rules winner, who was recognized by Mr. Woodring for being engaged in the classroom.

•The answers to last week’s college trivia questions were: The 5 U.S. Military branches are the Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Fun tip provided by Ms. Ortega, the Coast Guard is now part of the Department Of Homeland Security and no longer part of the Department of Defense. Yale has won the most National Championships in college football. The orange is the mascot for Syracuse University. Congratulations to last week’s college trivia winners: Dakota Wisely, Mr. Bushman, Riley Cascia, Mr. Bradford, Sierra Sunderland, and Mr. Stokes! This will be the last week of college trivia so be sure to stop by the counseling office to participate and win great prizes!!

•The Pekin Hockey Dragons started their season out with a 8-0 victory over the IceHawks.

Jared Donald had the first hat trick of the season.

Connor Taylor, Peyton Swearingen, Jestin Rademaker, Dalton Wolfe, and Austin Belcher also had goals for the Dragons.

The next game will be this coming Sunday at the Pekin Arena at 5:30 against Notre Dame.


•Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams in their advance to the Sectionals Cross Country. There are racing this Saturday at Maxwell Park in Normal to qualify for the State Cross Country Meet. Please wish these runners SPEEDY LUCK when you see them this week:

For the girls:  Paige Arseneau, Candice Boldt, Madison Stoller, Jayza Riley, Caroline Gilmore, Madison Vicary and Maddie O’Shaughnessey.


For the boys: Kolton Dunkelbarger, Alex Olar, Tanner Heiple, Chase Paul, Robbie Lawrence, Andrew Wolfe, & Jeremy Vogel


•A special shout out goes to key club volunteers and members Summer Everly and McKenna Russel for going the extra mile after Night out against crime, at the dragon dome last Thursday.  Check the Pekin Police Department facebook page for their extra effort.
