Advanced Course Offerings
Advanced Placement Classes
During the 2011-2012 school year, Pekin Community High School offered seven AP classes (AP Statistics, AP U.S. History, AP English, AP Calculus, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics, and AP Chemistry) to its students. Advanced Placement classes not only offer students a rigorous curriculum, but also the opportunity to earn college credit for work done in high school. The number of students taking AP exams has doubled this year compared to last year. PCHS currently has 131 students signed up to take 200 AP tests. Moreover, nearly 90% of the students enrolled in AP classes have elected to take the AP exam associated with that class.
In the last five years, PCHS students have consistently scored above the state average on AP exams.
